DTF2: Vast capacity, astounding transfer rate
Sony's GW2-200GL cartridge has a native capagcity of 200GB, while the GW2-60GS holds 60GB. Transfer rate attains an ultra-high 24MB/s using a Sony GY-8240 drive. With ALDC (adaptive lossless data compression), average capacity is 518GB or more.
The best choice for long-term data storage
The GW tape utilizes Sony’s unique HDA (High Density Alloy)
magnetic particles. Combined with an extremely fine and uniform surface protective layer, HDA enhances the DTF's archival characteristics.
Ultra-fine metal magnetic particles
High-density packing of ultra-fine magnetic particles and a special calendering (compression and heat-added) treatment are brought together to produce a remarkably smooth surface, resulting in tapes with high output and a low error rate.
High durability even with repeated use
A high-performance lubricant protects the tape’s surface, controls the friction index and maintains optimum tape-to-head contact. The strength of the magnetic layer is also enhanced through cross-linkage to the binder. New production technology permits minimal tape shrinkage, reduces tape deformation over time, and allows for long term, precise stable tracking. Even with repeated use,
the error rate remains low.
